Myles Traveled is a great story. It’s an inspirational story. It’s the American Dream.”

Karen’s Kudo

It’s been a good day!  First Bill Livingston paid Myles Traveled a nice compliment in the Cleveland Plain Dealer ( see post below).  But I think an even better endorsement came from Jenny’s friend Karen.

Now Livingston is a sports writer by trade.  He lives and dies sports talk.  So I would have expected him to like Coach Myles’s stories.  Karen on the other hand is, I think, a far cry from a football fanatic.  I know her through my wife, and mainly as a member of the Pandora Ladies Garden Club.  After Jim Naveau’s column ran in Sunday’s Lima News, Karen showed up at our door Monday afternoon and wanted to purchase a copy of the book.  I happily personalized one for her.

Today she called Jenny, and asked her to tell me she was loving the book.  Apparently she made the mistake of starting it one evening before bedtime, and said she then “couldn’t put it down.”

And that makes me most proud.  When Bill and I set out on this project, I soon saw this was a story that knew no gender, knew no age, and knew no class or social status.  Bill and I wanted this to be more than a “locker room” book, and we worked real hard to make it that, something that would appeal to all walks.  When you have a member of the Pandora Ladies Garden Club staying up late, because she can’t put it down, well I think we succeeded!
